Today's Friday Shoot Out is the topic " Up and down!"
Sometimes I have days were when I walk down the road to find the gulls are already waiting to be served some heels of bread.
Somedays I look up in the sky and think about lost ones and see somehow, they are thinking of me too,
But today I was out on my lunch break, reliving the memory of my night before, reading the Chronicles of Narnia thinking what a wonderful book it was, when I looked up and it had started to snow! It only lasted 15 minutes but it was lovely to have my wee piece of Narnia!
but the sun had set as I walked home and looking up, I saw the moon was rising
and as I got to my door, I looked up again the glow of the moon was a thrilling backdrop to a haunted looking house.
and a wee while after I got home, the buzzer of the front door went.
I went down the stairs, (One staircase wee doggie is not too fond of going up, strangely)
to find a old friend at the door! She had to dash, but thought I might be able to do something she handed to me in a bag. With hugs of sorry and goodbyes she thrust the bag at me and shimmied down the path. When calling out, asking her what was it, she called out "It will love it here. It needs a bit of light!" and was gone.
Now what did she say, it needs a bit of light or keep it away from light? Oh God, it's not a gremlin is it? I swept up the stairs eager to see my treasure. I cautiously opened the bag to see this poor soul.
Light? A sunbed couldn't save what I think is (was) a winter berry plant. As I looked down on it, I realised it never stood a chance with my lovely friend as she has never had any interest in plants whatsoever. In fact she doesn't like them. Ahh well, I put it beside the lamp in vain hope of artificial sunlight. Happy Friday to you!
Oh the "haunted house" was so dramatic and the shot was just excellent. The one above it reminded me of the opening shot of 2001 a Space Odyssey.
ReplyDeleteYour commentart was a very happy touch.
I love your take!
ReplyDeleteCan I use the berry photo for our new February banner? elizabeth@cookappeal.com
hehehe,
ReplyDeletemay be it was a Christmas present she did not want. You must be a great friend and a plant lover.
What a great tale...I love the photos and the story line. I almost expected you to go through a wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteI loved your storyline too. I like the haunted house look. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteNice shoot-out. Hope the plant makes it!
